Daphne

Educational Director

I want to take a moment to formally introduce you to Daphne Thompson. With a MA in Special Ed and Early Childhood Education, Daphne joins OWL as our new Educational Director. She is also a NY State certified teacher of ages Birth - 2nd grade. Daphne’s comes to OWL from her most recent role as the Educational Director of NYC’s Explore and Discover Early Learning Center serving 35 children and leading 15 teachers. Over the last year- During our time in NYC together- Daphne demonstrated her unique ability to really know and understand the needs of every child under her care. She effortlessly communicated their progress and ensured the children were thriving and safe. I am fully confident that Daphne will be as effective in her new role at One World Learning. We are incredibly excited to welcome Daphne to the team!

That said, rest assured that OWL is in an excellent position to meet your family’s needs with a master teacher and proven educational leader in place. Daphne also already knows Brightwheel! Most importantly, she is a champion of the philosophy that has fortified the fundamental underpinnings of One World Learning since its inception: The belief that when cared for with LOVE and engaged in the joy of learning, every child will realize his or her purpose and positive potential.

Greetings OWL Families!

Hello, my name is Deena! I am so excited to be a part of the OWL Playschool team. I was previously a modern dance teacher and teacher's assistant for multiple years and always loved to work with my students, helping them learn to express themselves and to use their energy through dance and movement. I am skilled at providing a positive, fun and safe space. Those fundamentals are things I have always strived for with my students and will continue to do so within OWL. I try to put myself in the shoes of the parents and create a space I would love for my daughter to be in! I have always loved working with children of all ages and helping them to express their creativity through art, music and dance brings me (and them) great joy!! I look forward to working with all of you!

Jillien

Greetings Parents!

My name is Jillien Cordova and I am so excited to join the OWL Team! I am looking forward to getting to know all of your children. I will do everything I can to work with you to make sure your little ones are set for a bright future! I have an Associate’s Degree in Liberal Arts, where I was able to take courses in Child Development, Lifespan and some Psychology courses. I also have a professional certificate as a Medical Assistant and saving the best for last, I am a mother of two thriving children: Sophia (7) and Isaiah (6)!

My experience as a childcare teacher began just shy of three years ago, where I was responsible for children ages 6 months to 6 years old. Additionally, I have volunteered at neighboring Ward Elementary School as a “class mom.” I love working with children and believe they must always be prioritized above all else. My goal is to help your children find joy in developing new skills. I want to cultivate in them their natural desire to grow. I will go about my work with love, always ensuring that they are receiving the best care because they deserve it! I would want nothing less for my own children!

Looking forward to meeting you all!

Nicole

Greetings One World Learning families!

My name is Nicole. I’m 26 and will be graduating from Pace University at the end of this semester with a BA in Early Childhood Education and a minor in Special Education. I have always had a passion for working with little ones and this degree has provided me with a deep understanding of how to provide quality care. That said, with all the education I've had, my mom has been my best teacher! She has been helping me learn best practices since I started this journey as a babysitter at the young age of 15yrs, enabling me to confidently take on roles caring for infants and young children by my 18th birthday. So, with nearly 8 years of professional experience and my education wrapping up very soon, I’m truly very excited to join the teachers at OWL, to meet you; and begin learning your kids' names, along with what brings them joy, so that I can help them learn and grow each and every day!

Sincerely, Nicole Flores.
